What is your connection to the UW Carbone Cancer Center?
I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer a few years ago. He had surgery and was treated by doctors and researchers at the Carbone Cancer Center during his five year battle with cancer. I credit the people, and work done, at the Carbone Cancer Center for successfully extending my dad’s life from what is normally a very short prognosis. We were blessed to have such a facility so close us.
What is your favorite ELB / UWCCC event?
I like the tour of the research facility the best. Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research (WIMR) housed within the Carbone Cancer Center is a scientific wonder. The information that is shared by the researchers with attendees, as well as the walk-throughs of the labs, is very impressive.
What is something interesting about you?
I was a finalist for Bucky Badger (I should have won too…I’m still a little salty about it). I also love to scuba dive and fly fish.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
On a sailboat in the British Virgin Islands.
Everyone has a guilty pleasure. What is yours?
I get stuck watching movies from my childhood when they are on reruns on cable. If I start watching it, or come in during the middle, I always end up watching until it is over. It supports my appreciation for movie quotes.
